The modem and TRIA are in constant contact with the gateways and this is what is reflected by going to the IP address and accessing modem info ALONG with usage by the user.

In 18 hours on an unprovisioned, which means no internet, modem we have 950,000 bytes of transmitted data and 725,000 bytes of recieved data, and those number are climbing as you read this. We have an unprovisioned modem locked onto a properly pointed and peak VS1100 dish. The data that you see when you access the modem includes ALL data that goes back and forth between the modem and gateway. Also the IP address that was given only works on the new SB2 modems. Have already PMed WB Steve to point out the info needs to be corrected.

It is not reccomended for customers to be accessing the modem do to the fact that if it is known that the customer has been accessing the modem they could be held at fault if any problems happen. When the usage meter, that is accessed through your account management page, is back up, that is the one and only data meter you need to access. Accessing the modem and looking at the data that has gone back and forth IS NOT the correct way to determine your usage.
